Automation Technician

Automation Technician Job Responsibilities:
- Conducts thorough diagnosis of faulty equipment such as transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, and control systems.
- Utilizes PLC programming and modifications to troubleshoot and resolve issues with PLC and HMI programs.
- Participates in the design and implementation of electrical and automation control systems, including SCADA, MES, and Plant Networking.
- Collaborates with maintenance technicians to identify and diagnose malfunctions by utilizing schematics, diagrams, manuals, PLC programs, and appropriate test equipment.
- Documents all maintenance-related activities and equipment modifications according to maintenance department guidelines.
- Plans and communicates the layout of wiring and electrical components in assigned buildings.
- Researches and develops plans for special projects as assigned.
- Works with maintenance mechanics to meet overall plant maintenance requirements.
- Actively promotes and participates in safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assists Electrical Engineers and Business Process Automation Engineers with the implementation of SCADA, MES, and SPC as applicable.
- Carries out additional duties as directed by management.
Automation Technician Requirements and Qualifications:
- Required to have the physical ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Capable of reading and comprehending documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Proficient in written communication, including the ability to write basic correspondence.
- Skilled in effective verbal communication with groups of employees and managers.
- Able to communicate efficiently with third-party vendors and contractors.
- Proficient in mathematical calculations and interpretation of technical instructions.
- Knowledgeable in manufacturing and multiple platforms of PLC programming software, including AutoCAD or other print design software.
- Proficient in entering data into existing computer software using on-screen prompts or written instructions.
- Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical/electronic schematics.
- Able to perform various multi-skilled tasks, including mechanical maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drives, and advanced electrical controls and automation.
- Possesses knowledge of electronic, PLC, and electro-hydraulic systems.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn and apply multiple job-related skills and to work effectively in a team environment.
- Desirable to hold an Electrical Maintenance Certification.
- Desirable to have experience with Siemens PLC, C++, and SQL.
